Question for the site team

Hi guys. I notice in the forums there is a challenge section but no posts in it. Has enyone thought of starting weekly or fortnightly challenges?? Just like you have photo of the month why not set people a challenge each week or so to take photos of a set subject and then vote to see who's the best.

Re: Question for the site team

This has been done but sometimes does not get much response.

Sometimes it does though, Azz what do you think?

Re: Question for the site team

We ran a 'topic of the month' competition for a couple of years in fact we only stopped it about 2 months ago.

Everybody was free to enter and each month a poll was set up for people to vote for their favourites with the winner free to choose the topic for the following month. Scores were added up during the course of the year resulting in an overall winner.

Unfortunately the number of people participating dropped to the point that we decided to call it a day.

We always welcome new ideas and suggestions though and I'm sure if enough people are interested we could look into getting something set up.

Re: Question for the site team

We have a few more members now so maybe it would create more interest.

Re: Question for the site team

Maybe a shot of the week and the winner describes the background to the shot and the settings used. Not sure about a competition.

Re: Question for the site team

Yep we used to have a Topic of the Month, but we've recently changed it to Photo of the Month (where now every image posted is an entry)

We used to have other challenges too, such as an editing comp but those have really morphed into the Post a Pic type threads we have.

Rather than make it a comp, we could just have a weekly 'topic', perhaps go through the current Post a Pics as there's a lot to choose from now - and then when they're all done, start adding new ones.

That way then there's no pressure and it's just a bit of fun

Anything, to get people posting more, and topics seem a good way to do it

Re: Question for the site team

Being new here I'm finding it very, very hard to actually have a look at anyone's photographs let alone comment on any.

How about a member's gallery or something that can be viewed on the homepage?
