7D away back to Canon

Hi I am a bit lost at the minuet, my 7D is away back to Canon for repair.
It developed a noise problem at low ISO settings picture quality was not good. It may be a sensor problem, or a metering problem, so I am back to my trusty 400d.

7D should be back in 4-6 weeks

Hi Goggs

When you say it developed a noise problem - I take it it's not been like that since the start ?

Re: 7D away back to Canon

I think there is more likelihood of a camera developing faults in they have the combined movie/still facility, irrespective of make. This is one of the reasons why I took the camcorder and seperate DSRL route, if one goes faulty I still have the other to carry on with. Luckily you have a back up camera but many wouldn't.
Hope the problem gets sorted quickly and no more problems occur

Re: 7D away back to Canon

Hope you get it back soon!

On that note, I never wanted to have a camcorder facility - but had little choice, as I wanted a D300 and Nikon helpfully took them off sale a day before I could buy!!! >

Hi Phil

No it started off fine but has got to the the stage where you start to notice the digital noise, images were not as smooth as they were.

It shows like a mozaic and quite grainy some pixels are missing thats at 100ISO and at 100% crop at 100 ISO it was just crap so its away back for to be looked over
So I will just have to wait and see what they say.

So thats more time I will have on my hands,to spend on my classic car...

Cheers Goggs

Hi I have never even switched the movie side of the camera on.
dont think 400D will let me down. I may go and buy a roll of film for my Zenit E.
