Woody Wood Pigeon

Pigeon pie sat on the telegraph pole at the end of the garden. Tightly cropped because I was underneath the thing it was sat on so couldn't get the whole bird in shot. 2nd pigeon shot is more of a resize test.

and a couple of mobbing shots (albeit too distant) from the same time..

All but the first one have been mucked about with using a particular process but I was keen to to see how they look here when resized. They're have gone a bit funny by the looks of it.

Hopefully the first doesn't look too bad

Reference the OTT USM Phil, shots 2 is the worst with number 3 close behind on my 27" iMac screen..

I had guessed it was something new, as your shots generally have such a subtle level of sharpening.

I like the last two shots best Phil, it looks like you need the same lens that I still have on my wish list (EF500L)... One day when I'm found a pot of gold

Re: Woody Wood Pigeon

Cheers folks

I know somebody Ken that will be lending me (letting me use anyway) either the Canon EF 600mm f/4.0 L IS USM or the Canon EF 500mm f/4.0L IS USM for Loch of the Lowes. Should be fun whichever I get my hands on and give my arms a good workout.

With regards to the unsharp mask - there was no unsharp mask applied - it was some funny Corel add on although a lot of sharpening obviously went on within it. I knew it looked shocking at full size but i was interested to see what the results looked like at little forum size.
