Vigilance

We had a bright sunny day at the zoo today so I thought I'd try and improve my daylight photography skills. You wouldn't think that would be a problem but bright contrast makes for harsh, contrasting light, washing out detail or hiding it in shadow. The cats were out on their regular spots and very attentive so I took some 50 photographs of them. Here's two of my favorites.

Re: Vigilance

Hi Bob, Lovely shots of two magnificent animals, they look so proud and content.

The black levels do look a little high, do you shoot in JPG or RAW?

PS. The lion on the left in the last shot is looking at you in the same way I look at those BigMac pictures in McDonalds

Re: Vigilance

Beautiful animals, and really nice images, have you added a strong vignette, as the lions are quite bright on my monitor, compared to everything else. Could just be the harsh light though,if the were laid in a bright spot. Not a criticism, just wondering.

Harsh sunlight Suz. I hate bright, direct sunlight. Too much contrast to overcome.
