Ancient Warrior

I visited Byron Van Zant today to get some custom T-shirts ordered. I was concerned about his business surviving recent expenses but he was able to get a full disability retirement that will bring him a good monthly income to make everything work.

Re: Ancient Warrior

Hey Bob - the blurring on this is quite harsh again - it looks particularly awkward around the top of his head? Have you got a non-blurred version you could post up?

Re: Ancient Warrior

Dropped by earlier and although I didn't comment at the time - I remember thinking the same as Azz.

From memory it was the top left (as we look) of his head.

Much prefer it now though Bob.

I know he doesn't look the same but in some ways (there's something kind in his face) he reminds me of the American musician - Seasick Steve.

Re: Ancient Warrior

Byron is a very educated, intelligent, kind man. It was wonderful news to hear justice was served in his case. I got a big hug from his wife, Debbie. There was so much pressure on the couple to succeed in their little business. Now, Byron is actually able to hire an apprentice and is teaching him the leather trade.

Re: Ancient Warrior

Is this the sort of thing you were trying to do Bob?

I just used the blur tool to blur out around his face, heavier for the background.

Re: Ancient Warrior

Yes, that's it Azz. By blurring the background I was attempting to draw attention from the naturally blurred areas to the face.

OnOne also has a masking module that makes selections using color variations. I still have more to learn there as well. When you're proficient at using manual tools like the stamp tool it's hard to force yourself to use new tools such as CS5's Content Aware Fill. Now that I have practiced using that great feature I use the stamp tool much less and my work flow is faster. I experience the same learning curve when switching from Photoshop Elements to CS4 Photoshop. Now I've deleted Elements from all my computers because I'm confident that I've surpassed its capabilities with CS5.
