Anchors & Propellers

I managed a road trip to the coast yesterday where I was surprised by blue skies and sunshine. The 70 mile ride there went through a couple of different climate changes that included plenty of rain & fog.

That prop looks amazing, I wonder what sort of rpm that would run at?

Re: Anchors & Propellers

Nice shots Bob - looks like you picked a good day for your ride. Even if I could drive at the moment I wouldn't be able to get out of the village due to the snow so I'm quite jealous.

I'd love to know the weight of that anchor - haven't you photographed it before ??

The prop is indeed a thing of beauty - it would make an interesting subject on it's own 'close up' although it's good to see it in its quayside setting.

Re: Anchors & Propellers

I've been to this location many times Phil and have photographed this anchor 2 or 3 times before. The lighting was pleasing this day so I clicked away one more time. As far as the beautiful day I have to chuckle because I live in a valley. It was pouring down rain when I left the valley and dropped below freezing as I crossed over the mountains. I watched the temperature rise above freezing as I went down the mountains and came closer to the coast. The clouds parted and the sun came out as well as patches of blue skies. All this happens in the 70 mile drive to the coast. There are 3 distinct mico-climates involved and you never know what to expect.

Re: Anchors & Propellers

Never knowing what to expect is a good thing Bob - makes the trips all the more worthwhile.

That said 'predictable' is handy too. Some parts of Scotland are down to -22C tonight which isn't record breaking for here but unusual for late November / Early December as our low temperatures tend to be in January or February.

I'm hoping for some snowy shots shots tomorrow but only around the village.
