Tempted to spend some money - Nikon P80

Anyone have or handled one? Impressive lens ability if it is as good as suggested.

Re: Tempted to spend some money - Nikon P80

I haven't used it myself but hear the Coolpix range is very good.

It's not far off the price of the D40 - which is a DSLR tho... might be worth considering?

There are lots of reviews in Google which might be worth reading

Re: Tempted to spend some money - Nikon P80

Spent far too much of the day reading reviews and have just ordered it - very excited now tomorrow will be like Christmas. Owned a Coolpix a while ago (sister has it now) and got on well with it however when I came to buy a DSLR I could not cope with the Nikon eye piece and have learned since, at least the one I was thinking about, was very energy hungry. So bought the Pentax and then realised I owned a number of compatible lens a fact that had not dawned on me.

Re: Tempted to spend some money - Nikon P80

Got it and a Gorillapod, came lunchtime, just unpacked them and charged the battery. Only taken one photo so far, a nice shot of the top of my pepper grinder will now read at least some of the instructions.

BTW like the Gorillapod, reckon it will be very useful.

Never underestimate the capabilities of a pocket digital. That shot of Crater Lake that you liked Snapper was taken with a Nikon L12 pocket digital. Cameras are like row boats, you always want one two feet longer. LOL

Oh I don't Bob, sometimes you just would not get the shot if you only had the DSLR around even if it had the correct lens the chances are I would need the tripod and by the time I remembered to remove the lens cap and set up for the shot the 'bird' so to speak would have flown.

The Nikon now sits on my desk and is to hand with the pen, the phone, the mouse and the dog biscuits and I am ready for anything
