Re: CS5, anybody going to upgrade?

I am using the 30 day free day trial to make sure it is worth the upgrade.

So far my impressions are veering toward the "worth upgrading" route but I must say that content aware feature is very good but it not infallible and can give some "interesting" results.

The new selections options are good but not intuitive so I had to watch some videos on Lynda.com to learn how they are used.

Re: CS5, anybody going to upgrade?

Some of the new features can save you a fair bit of time.

Getting rid of the red lead in the picture below was a 5 second job with content aware turned on. Just a matter of selecting spot healing tool and making the brush just a little wider than the lead and then just paint down along the lead. Done.

Just tidy up where the lead went through Trudi's hand and that was it.

After

Re: CS5, anybody going to upgrade?

All depends on what you want, unless you are gonna do heavy edits involving many layers and composites I'd say that it's not worth it.

I used elements till recently and only moved up as I was at the limit of what I wanted to do with it, layer masks and print profiles were more important and these are the things that full 'shop allows over elements.
