Loch Ard and Balmaha

Went a run to Loch Ard then to Balmaha at Loch lomond today, I've visited Loch ard before and took note of a few spots worth returning for imaging. And so, I returned today The loch itself is not very accessible (parking, layby's etc) and so it is very difficult to get parked near a spot you want to image.

1)Balmaha at the east side of Loch lomond. f11, 5sec, ISO100

2)Loch Ard. f16, 6sec, ISO100

3)Balmaha at Loch lomond. f16, 30sec, ISO100

4)Balmaha at Loch lomond. f16, 13sec, ISO100

Re: Loch Ard and Balmaha

Beautiful shots DJ, you manage to capture such a peaceful "vibe" and the light is always so well handled. I might have been tempted to take a little off the right hand side of #3 and I prefer the treatment of #5 to #2 ('fess up now - did you put that bit of green rope on the end of the jetty to lead your eye to the boathouse across the water?).

Thanks Sam. No, I did not touch the green rope I usually do not setup/stage my images or move around anything unless of course there is some litter in the frame or grass or something else distracting, then I will remove it. I have on occasion moved a log or branch in to the frame of a few of my images but only on a few images where the scene demanded it

I had waited a while on this jetty for the right shot as I wanted a long exposure on the water but at the same time not have any movement on any of the grass and trees. It was made more difficult because I was shooting in to the light and there was quite a breeze blowing. I think my patience paid off though as I got 5 sec exp on this shot and timed it before the Sun had rendered the little boathouse and trees in blackness.

Thanks Dawn, Yes, this is my favourite shot of the day It was really a bonus to have the Gull pose perfectly still for the 5sec exposure. If I had pulled out my 400mm no doubt he would have took off
