Re: Female of the 40's

Thanks Phil. I am not seeing 'shockingly bright' but yes it is a strong red. My main computer is dismantled at the mo as I am decorating and changing 'my office' for my p/tt business etc. Hmmm... now i am not sure. Considering a new IPS monitor anyway to replace my 24in Samsung.

Re: Female of the 40's

Perhaps a poor choice of words on my part.

I meant shockingly 'very red' - rather than 'bright'.

Re: Female of the 40's

Shut up! I was a step nearer to convincing myself to get the new monitor!

Anyone looking in on this thread care to say what monitor you have if you have invested in something good for photographic work?

Re: Female of the 40's

Viewing this on a small laptop, see nothing wrong with the colours. I really love the composition, the subdued detail in the 'negative' space really makes this picture for me.

Re: Female of the 40's

As I said, it could well be my monitor - and it looks rather red in general - the face looks really quite pinky red too, my monitor does well, and has reasonably good colour, but it's not calibrated, and occasionally photos do look a bit 'off'.

I would ignore my earlier musings on the subject

Re: Female of the 40's

I really like this. I too, love the way her face is illuminated, and it also makes me want to know what she is seeing (or what she is seeing in her minds eye!). The lippy looks good to me and just what I'd expect from that era.

I do have a new moniter and it is very surprising what a difference it makes....e.g. shots I thought were sharp are not as great as I thought! Colours and clarity is amazing. The moniter is an LG backlight thingy (very similar to the Mac screen) we got it after a lot of research as it's meant to be fab for photo's and gaming.

Re: Female of the 40's

Just having a look at this on my uncalibrated little netbook screen. Colours definately look a bit warmer and pinkier than my big, HP Workstation laptop. I guess that explains some of the variations people are explaining.
