Re: Love

Thanks for the comments... not sure about ghetto Azz , Leicester is very cosmopolitan you know...according to the publicity anyway! It was taken at the carribean carnival. I have quite a few pictures but this was one of the first processed.

The picture is taken with my Sigma 24-70mm zoom on the full frame D700. Having gone through the pictures it is a fantastic lens and the colours and the sharpness is excellent (to the edges of the frame). I feel compelled to go Nikon 24-70 but I am left wondering what i will see for my money. My biggest issue was a number of shots missed focus (maybe less than 7%) and I am left wondering if this is the camera or the lens.

Thanks for taking the time and trouble to C&C my shot. I hope to go back through YoP the last week or two buthave found myself with quite limited time with a load of work and personal stuff.

Not sure what comes first but this is a good lens *if* you get a good copy. The problem with Sigma is they seem to have dodgy quality control and simply you either get a good one or you don't. There are some people I would trust on the forums to buy a lens secondhand from. I got this secondhand as it was considered a good copy, the guy having rejected others before he kept it and used it. It is pin sharp from about f4.5, f5.6 being about optimimum for my style of working. I would definately recommend it, but if you want to guarantee a good copy, then you need to go Canon (or Nikon). I'd like the 24-70 Nikon, I know it will be better at f2.8 and maybe on colour, but I doubt there could be much better sharpness. I will no doubt acquire one soon.

Incidentally full frame (e.g. my D700) should reveal flaws in lenses more, but I was amazed to see this still held it's own as well as on my D300.

Thanks PD...

I like the shot too, the couple were lovely as was practically everyone I saw at the carnival yesterday.

The D700 seems to attract the geeks though...I was agaion stopped twice by the 'is that a D700 I'd like one...' I must just look too approachable...

* 50mm 1.4
* 80mm 1.8
* My own macro lens so I don't have to keep lending my dad's back to him (he can't possible love it as much as I do).
then
the Canon EF 24-70mm F2.8L USM (I can dream can't I???)
or more likely the Sigma.

If you ever see someone 'trusted' selling one, do let me know! I would just buy off E Bay then regret it later!
