Online video Reviews of Camera, Lenses etc

Thought I'd just post this link as they seem to do some unbiassed video reviews of many popular cameras and lenses etc.

Quite handy after a day at the shops when you've been brainwashed by sales people.

Re: Online video Reviews of Camera, Lenses etc

I've seen that site before - although I'm afraid to say it's one of the 'review sites' that didn't show pictures taken with the kit lens when they reviewed the Canon 400D, yet in their Nikon D40 review they were quite happy to use the kit lens.

I think sites need to be fair when reviewing products and to me that means not using more expensive lens with one camera, yet the kit lens with another - especially when they are both aimed at the same market.

(Every pic in the gallery part of the review for the D40 was with the kit lens, yet the lens used for the 400d were; 17-85mm, the 70-200mm, and the 17-55mm)

Nikon 55-200mm VR

Fair point Azz - Camera body / lens combi's are often what people buy so it would be nice to see kits reviewed although 'worldwide' kits vary so much so it would be an endless task.

Because of that the reviews are specific to the product - when they review a camera they review the body regardless of what lens they have attached and likewise when they review a lens they focus on the lens.

Still helpful though especially if you can only get to the shops on a Saturday when many camera shops have staff that (kick well know high street store time) are unable to demonstrate their products.

Re: Online video Reviews of Camera, Lenses etc

I do think review sites have a responsibility and was quite shocked when I found a few sites doing this. I think it's more important for consumer products, and even more so for the entry level end of the market.. because people will judge the camera quite a bit by the pictures they see taken with it, without realising the lens attached costs more than twice as much as the camera itself

Re: Online video Reviews of Camera, Lenses etc

I was talking about the video reviews where they do 'speak' about the product be it camera or lens.

If you're on about sample images taken with 'rival' cameras then they should certainly use similar lenses and ideally lenses that are most likely to geared towards the body in question.
