Crimes Against Humanity

I've been to many historic sites since moving to Oregon nearly 4 years ago. Some will never be photographed again because of such things as Pacific storms. I was sad to hear on the news that last weekend a landmark along the Pacific coast may never be the same because of vandals. Someone shot out the 100 year old lighthouse light at Cape Mears lighthouse. What a senseless act that affect everyone familiar with this site. It has withstood a hundred years of storms while protecting shipping able to view it's light. I wish it were possible to catch these criminals although I can't dream of a fitting punishment. Lets just say I'd put them in prison in a cell where they'd pray for a chance to see the light of day.

Re: Crimes Against Humanity

I think a good start would be to ban guns!!

(Can you tell I am not a fan of them!)

Maybe you could offer that photo to the local press - so they could do a before and after

Guns don't kill people or damage property, bullets do. Ban bullets! I seem to have captured a couple of photos of places that have changed.

Re: Crimes Against Humanity

Such a shame, hope it can be repaired Bob vandalism seem much more of a rare event here than the UK, I have been so impressed by the lack of litter, graffiti and the general care people take of their surroundings.

You did make me laugh, with the ban bullets suggestion Bob xxx

Since I lived in South Carolina for 13 years I know what you're talking about with the clean environment there. Believe it or not Oregon is much, much cleaner. Folks here are determined to keep it that way and fight any legislation, like off shore oil drilling, that would potentially harm this beautiful place. The 7 months of rain we get here helps purify the water & air. It's a small trade off for the paridise that is May-September.
