What type of photography site would you like to see?

Just curious!

Excluding forums, what 'type' of photography site would you like to see or be interested in joining?

Perhaps one where you could upload/post photos and then others could score or 'mark' your photo (out of 10, on things like composition, exposure, editing, etc)

Or one where you could post images and only people you have added as friends could comment on them?

Or....???

Re: What type of photography site would you like to see?

I like your idea Azz I'd also like something very similar to the fabulous OneEyeland, but perhaps not quite so scary and elitist, and more aimed at amateurs, novices and those who want to improve. I've been a member of OneEyeland since it started pretty much, but I've never uploaded anything - the quality of work on there is phenomenal, so something a little less scary!

That sounds pretty interesting

I have been a member of another photographic forum too and not had the guts to upload or post anything yet, as i feel intimidated by the photographs and the people,

here it's just so much more friendly and helpful, i don't feel like a fool when i join in

Re: What type of photography site would you like to see?

Z - nice find! Maybe it could be a spin-off of the other site I mentioned... where the highest scoring photos get promoted to that site? Kind of like an incentive to do as well as you can

Kay - that's what I was thinking too, it would be a good way to find out your weak points without getting a tongue lashing (although as you said that never happens here anyway)

I have visited a few forums/sites but the lingo/photos being posted is very intimidating for me as well.

I like the idea of a lesson in return of each image post. Meaning, that the ranking is associated with a comment for each. I take very well to constructive criticism. Just not intimidation. It would also be very nice to have software help/editing tips and how to's from those more skilled at it. It would also be nice to have instruction/tips or how to's on topics like composition, exposure, lighting and so forth. I'd would definitely be up for it and would certainly take part in it.

Yeah I think allowing a comment with each 'score' would be a good idea too - that way the poster sees who's scoring what, and if they feel anyone is being nasty, they can block them from future ratings

Re: What type of photography site would you like to see?

Thanks Az. You know...as many times as I have been to that home page I have never noticed those photography options to the right. I know that is really not nice to admit to but it's true. I'm usually scouring through the photos!

Az, I have been going through these lessons. Each one (and have made it through only two so far) but they are really dead on with what I was referring to in this thread. Very nicely put together. I'm wondering though the last post dates so far date back to 2008 I think. So would the posts just continue? I would like to take part in the monthly challenges but I don't want to post if I shouldn't. To simplify my question...are the challenges still active?
