Re: Time for some new business cards

For what its worth, by changing your advertising profile could lead to people thinking it may be a different company. Once you have an eye catching easy to read form of promoting your business then stay with it. I have found over many years of using the same brochure, people get to recognise the product and have even said " Oh I saw that in ******". Even if they have forgotten the company name often its the presentation (picture) when describing to others that brings the company name to mind.

Business cards are just that, they need to be plain and simple and quickly read. Anything too fancy distracts from the prime information you want to get across ie name -address -tele number -opening hours and your services. Even down to the type of font on the card can make all the difference, but definately not too much background if any, Plain background
( even with a colour and stand out clear print) is far more punchy.

I have around 100 business cards on file from different companies, and only 2 of them really stand out, one has a red background with gold lettering and the other has a silver background with blue lettering. The only ones that have a picture on are those that only specialise in a specific product.

Save the fancy stuff for brochures.

My advise,as a long established company owner, is to let people get used to your promotional product. Causing confusion in the publics mind leads to less work. So think about it first before doing anything.

My first impression of what you have put up is "oh that company ONLY does weddings -christenings type of thing, I won't use them because I want a company that can photograph my champion herd of cows ". Instantly you have lost work, don't forget business cards get handed around from person to person, SO KEEP THEM PLAIN.

Re: Time for some new business cards

LOL i will sort the K out when i have a spare few mins! I need something similar but clearer! ARGH!

Bazza, my old business cards are about 18months old now and i have rebranded from my original sie. I feel this "brand" comes across better and more professional.

Re: Time for some new business cards

K

I speak as I find as you well know. In this case I get a feeling that you are only aiming at photographing weddings and that type of thing with the format you have posted.

If that is all you want to do fine, but you will loose out on any promotional work of which it majority of business comes from. I still would urge you to widen your horizons if you want to earn a living from photography.
