This Mornings Visitors

Just a few Birds from this morning. Happy to report the Pied Wagtail is still around, although i am quickly finding out he is a little bully, he has a go at all the other birds that land near him, except the Wood Pigeons that is.

Heavy crop on this one just to get most of the fence and posts out of the image. He did land on the lawn for a few seconds until the wagtail scared him off so i did not manage a decent photo of him on the lawn.

Chaffinch

Collared Dove

Male Sparrow

Pied Wagtail

Pied wagtail again - Early Bird catches the Mealworm

Starling - Probably one of the most uploaded images by me, just think they are fantastic birds though

Wren - Seen this lil fella around and about for some time now but only usually seen hiding in the trees. Finally he came up towards the house today

Well that is all for now.

Re: This Mornings Visitors

A good mixed bag of birdies Mark. Are you shooting on manual, app, or shutter? I'm asking because (and I mean this in the nicest way to help), some look not as sharp as others you have done. I know photobucket doesn't exactly help.

Re: This Mornings Visitors

Thanks Dave....Very good reason for them not being sharp though, all these were handheld shots. I found it easier shooting the wagtail handheld and the 2nd image of the Wagtail and the Chaffinch are cropped a lot to try and clean the image up a little......I think its my photography rather than photobucket

Cheers Brian......Not as many Wrens around as there should be, lovely little birds ......You will one day get your elusive Wren though

Re: This Mornings Visitors

I seen one of those Pied Wagtail yesterday when I was out. Every time I tried to move closer it went a bit further away Very camera shy. I only had my 18-55 lens on.

Re: This Mornings Visitors

Nice set Mark I'm just jealous you all have birds in your garden lol, I have no birds visit at all and would not even be worth setting up feeders tom many houses around here hence I go walkies to Hawthorne etc...I miss the garden but love the bigger house...

Re: This Mornings Visitors

Yes very skittish Dave, any movement by me and its off......

You would be surprised Owen what birds would visit if you put feeders up, or even just a single pole with a few feeders. Lots of houses here too, and other than the feeders we have not exactly got a bird friendly garden. Thankfully the neighbors have trees. Many neighbors have feeders up too so they are spoiled for choice where to feed. Love to see more feeding off the lawn instead of just the feeders. Saying all that Owen you have your ideal location in Hawthorne, cannot beat those natural surroundings

Re: This Mornings Visitors

Thanks Sharon
He has spent most of the day in the garden today, he must know that he is onto a good thing with unlimited supply of food
The only disappointing thing with the Wren is that he is on the fence, making the image a little uglier. I would not of minded if he had landed on the railings on the decking, at least the railings are clean.
