Castlerigg Stone Circle At Dawn

Had a mad idea to drive to the lakes at 4am to catch sunrise at Castlerigg, it was -5 and dark as a dark thing! However it was all mine, well till 9am when some other tog showed up.

Ended up staying in the lakes all day, and went back for sunset at the stone circle, that shot soon to feature on this here forum!!

That really is a wonderful shot Steve, your enthusiasm to get the shot puts me to shame , just how far was that journey? Also really like the subtle look you have given this, what sort of PP did you do? If you don't mind me asking.

Re: Castlerigg Stone Circle At Dawn

It's about 100 miles and 2 hours with no traffic Ken.

This is a 5 shot, 1 stop apart HDR. Processed to give a balanced exposure rather than anything overly artistic, thought it suited it more. Processed with Nik HDR efex pro in the 'shop and then finishing tweaks on levels and curves.

This is very beautiful and certainly worth the drive. I haven't tried the HDR thing yet but I was considering trying it last night.

Re: Castlerigg Stone Circle At Dawn

Good use of HDR. The early start paid off. Good stuff.
