Re: Whats considered a high shutter count?

That's nothing really.

If you want to look at data gathered on all sorts of models and when they die - check here.

http://www.olegkikin.com/shutterlife/

It's just like a car or anything else for that matter . Manufacturers will give an estimate but it's to be taken with a pinch of salt. Buying 2nd hand it's obviously good to know whether a camera has 10K or 100K but once the camera is yours I certainly wouldn't dwell on it.

Re: Whats considered a high shutter count?

Remember in that data - that a camera that has only been out for a short while will appear to have an average 'actuation death' that seems worryingly low because all those that died will have died prematurely.

Re: Whats considered a high shutter count?

I have upgraded my camera body roughly every 2 years, so don't worry too much about shutter actuation counts, but I still have my first dSLR (Canon 300D), it's on nearly 50,000 now and we still use it.

Like others have said, it's a bit like worrying about miles on a car, except that (unless you earn your living from photography) without a car most/a lot of people can't get to work. It's taken over 6 years for my 300D to get to nearly 50,000 (annoyingly it only counts to 10,000 and resets as well) so I don't think for most people it will be too much of an issue.

Alan.
