Windows 7 question.

After downloading pictures from the camera to the pc, why can't I view the raw files in the gallery.

It the 'My Pictures' gallery that comes with W7. I can browse the jpegs but not the raw. The message says the file format is not supported.

There are I believe a lot of things that are not compatible with windows7, you may well have to view via a 3rd party compatible editing suite. Or have a look at any existing imaging facilities you have to see if there is a patch update.

You usually need to download the driver for your raw files (as they vary from manufacturer to manufacturer). I had to do that for my NEF files, but when I went to Vista 64bit... there wasn't any as Nikon didn't support it. Maybe they haven't updated to windows7 yet?

I'm glad they work by default on my Mac.

I use Windows 7 and have no problem viewing files in nikon's NEF format.
