Re: Just testing...

I suppose it depends what you want Flickr for Daisy, I use it only to hold pics I am going to post on the web for forums, that's it. So, little point, me uploading huge files onto it, as most forums have a 800px wide rule.

I use a company to upload all my files, as a third back up I'm a bit paranoid about losing files

Re: Just testing...

Hi BC, like that angle you have but you are right it is soft but I would rather that than over sharp.

Daisy have tried loads of different ones but if it is for uploading they all have their faults and FB is easy to use.

Moonie, I save my stuff to an outside drive and also on line, think you could say I am paranoid as well.

Re: Just testing...

Hi guys, been out all evening at my photo club. Quite successful evening, 2nd and 3rd placed images for the Presidents trophy so pretty chuffed.

The image is pin sharp on my computer, resized in CS3 to 1024pixels at 72 dpi ready for uploading, sharpened and saved at the best quality. By the time it is uploaded to Photobucket and then onto yop it looks a lot softer and muted colour. Will try and get it sorted out. It doesn't do it on every image.

I'm hoping to upload a few more images. Had quite a difficult last few months for various reasons so hopefully can devote a bit more time here.

Re: Just testing...

Hey Stu - can you email me the resized pic? I'll have a look and maybe upload it to PB - it could be a settings thing?

It's always been ok with me - but I always resize my photos first.

As Moonie says - Flickr is up to you.

If you wish, you can just upload the full size original image to Flickr. When it then comes to posting the image onto a forum or sending somebody an email etc you get the option of 7 sizes to use - anything from the original file right down to a tiny thumnail.

If you don't like the idea of uploading original huge sized files - just resize first to 800 then upload to Flickr. When it then comes to putting the image on a forum from Flickr - you still have all the size options available but 800 would be your largest option as it would be the 'original'.

Re: Just testing...

Even with resizing (so P-bucket doesn't resize) I still find images are soft. I only use it for rat stuff and snapshots really now. I usually put work I'm pleased with and want to share well on DeviantArt - it's of course not a 'hosting' site, but I do use it that way (but I also use it as intended - an art show case site).

Re: Just testing...

I have had an account with Deviant Art since last year as there are a number of street groups. I'm not sure if it links to just one image? I find it annoying on some sites you want to link to one image but then everyone can see your whole album, some pictures may which only be there for sales ads or messing about. I have a Flickr account which i have hardly used, might have to look at that again. It's finding the time to mess about. I think to be honest Photobucket must be able to do the job otherwise nobody would be using them...at the moment I blame myself, user error until i can prove otherwise
