Best lenses to go with Nikon D800

Thinking of upgrading my D300 which I have had since they first came out for Nikon D800. What lens would you get with it to start off. I also have a Sigma. 10-20 Sigma 150 - 500 Sigma 105 Nikon 70-300 and a very old 18-70. Any of Hesse worth keeping or is it better to start again. Costs are a issue.

Thank you in advance.

18-70 is a DX crop sensor lens, don't know how it would perform on a full frame camera. I am also not a great fan of Sigma lenses but its horses for courses, if your happy with Sigma then stay with them, but remember Nikon lenses as supposed to be better. As for which lens that depends on what your taking photos of so can't help there.

Re: Best lenses to go with Nikon D800

If I had a D800, and the funds I would get...

AF-S 50mm f/1.4 G
AF-S 24-70mm f/2.8G ED
AF-S 70-200mm f/2.8G ED VR II

If I had limited funds I'd get the first one - it's the cheapest of the lot but should really help show off your new camera
Kit 1
Nikon D300
Nikon 55-200mm VR
Kit 2
Nikon D40
Nikon 18-55mm
My Compact/P&S: Panasonic Lumix TZ7

Re: Best lenses to go with Nikon D800

Remember there's the new FX-Format AF-S NIKKOR 70-200mm f/4G ED VR lens.

Prices will be marked high to begin with but (as has been the case for Canon users) the f4 70-200 lenses have been a great alternative to the heavier faster f2.8 70-200 lenses, esp now we can lean more on the ISO of the camera.
Kit 1
Canon 1D Mark 3
Canon EF 17-40mm f/4 L USM
Canon EF 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM
Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 L IS USM
Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II
Kit 2
1D2 & 40D
