I take shots for me, if other people like them that's fantastic but why take a shot to please anyone other than yourself unless it's a paid job?

Have to say I do agree, it does seem strange to take shots to appeal to someone else, you surely have to please yourself first and foremost.

I would agree too - if you're not getting paid for the job (hence don't have a specification of what the client wants) then it's all about creating/taking photos that you have envisaged in your mind.

Re Tommy and other togs - they're getting paid to take a certain type of shot, for a specific market (the type who want to see the stunt/skill etc). Now if Ste wanted his photos having a chance to appear in those mags he might head their advice - but I think it's clear he does not
