GXR interchangeable unit camera

It's been around for a few months now and I've not read enough to know how it's been received but I was interested in the way the whole thing worked.

GXR is an interchangeable unit camera system in which lenses are changed by using a slide-in mount system to attach camera 'units' to the body. The lens, image sensor, and image processing engine are integrated into the camera units so the magnesium alloy body itself does not contain an image sensor.

With a range of 'lens units' - the theory is that you get both "pocket sized go-anywhere portability" and "high image quality" options.

Re: GXR interchangeable unit camera

DPreview.com have a pretty comprehensive article with plenty of images on this camera. If you need to use a telephoto lens though the unit is no longer "pocketable".

Re: GXR interchangeable unit camera

Are you talking about the Ricoh system? They look odd don't they - with massive bottoms to the lenses, or dare I say even ugly!

I do like smaller tho!

Yep - Ricoh.

You're right - they do look a bit strange but it was just the idea that caught my eye.
