my first self portrait but struggled with it tho, cant get the image sharp 
actually i think it a terrible picture of me !! lol

Whats the exif data on this on CL??
By the look of it you neeed to widen your aperture more so step up to about F/8-F/11, which in turn should give you a faster shutter speed. Try not to use flash but if you do, use rear sync option

it may look bright coz i was facing the window . what about using manual focus ?if i can remember i think this was auto focus

Your apertures to small and not allowing for a fast enough shutter speed. You need a speed of at least 1/125 for portraits
You can shoot either manual or auto, there is no definative right or wrong. Personally i would go for manual as you have great control as to where on the face is the main fous (usually the eyes) if you prefer you can auto focus and then change the settings to manual focus so the lens doesnt re-adjust
