Re: Fort Piqua Hotel (Piqua, OH)

I'm not sure what to say about this... I don't know whether the distortion is intentional, in which case it needs to be more, or it is you too close to a building with a wide angle...the result is the bowing at the front and edges. Architectural photography generally requires perfect straights, no distortion. Also, most zoom lenses at consumer prices will introduce unintentional bowing so you generally have to go further away and be pretty cute how you line up your shot. I also find the colours very contrasty, no detail in the shadow and very strong...again maybe intentionally, maybe your monitor set incorrectly.

Appreciate this sounds like a bit of a critique, but overall intention is to help you set up your monitor and colours, and get the best from your equipment. Keep posting.

Agree with Stu again. I think it's a shame the very tip of the spire is chopped off and the vignette in the top two corners is not enough to make a difference, just enough to sort of distract the eye.

Looks a really interesting building to try again though!

Something about this I like. Not the norm maybe. Shame the point has been cut off. Still like it though.

If no one tells me I'll never learn! So any critique is highly appreciated! I love this site because of the way people critique! I was on a website that was so mean about it, you guys and girls are not!

I'm the meanest but I look at my own pictures the same way and always mean to help and explain why something works or not when i look at it. At the end of the day though, my opinion or anyones opinion doesn't matter if you are happy with the shot.

Re: Fort Piqua Hotel (Piqua, OH)

Thank you!! Here are a few more pics. I am VERY new as you can probably all tell but I'm loving all the feed back I am getting!

I have noticed that a lot of times I that once I am home viewing my pictures I notice things I never did before! For example the clock in this picture. I never noticed it until I was home. Now I'm curious if it keeps the correct time! lol
