My 20 year old love

This is Barbie . . she's 20 years old, I rescued her from the scrap yard 2 years ago . . .it's took me that time to get her fully restored . . she runs like a dream, even in snow a foot deep.



Let there be light.
These are great at night on country roads.



This is the electronic brain that controls engine management . . . I had an annoying slight miss-fire last year . . it was due to a dry solder joint in the ECU . . there are 3 thermistors on the circuit board (circled) . . . a quick dab with a soldering iron on one of them solved the problem.



During the snow last January it was so deep the steel underbelly panel below the front bumper acted like a snow board . . it lifted the front wheels off the ground but the rear wheels continued giving traction . . that particular day even snow ploughs got stranded.

Looks in good condition and well done for keeping her going. It always amazes me that car electronics are as reliable as they are when you consider the harsh environment they have to work in. Solder being an alloy is very prone to going "dry jointed", so well done for finding them.

Thanks folks . . . did you notice the tyres ? . . . I fitted them last summer in anticipation of the comming winter . . . . I was the local towing expert last winter, cars were getting stuck in the deep snow on our roads within the housing scheme which is on level ground . . . I have a rigid tow-bar and a flashing beacon on the roof . . . yep! . . I'm the local flasher.
