ogmore valley . i know is something to do with the collieries and just wonders if it the part of the "pit head" or something ? lives here all my life and used to play up there !

hey think i found it !http://www.diggingupthepast.org.uk/index.html but it dont look like part of the pit head as it too chunky

It does look like the main pulley wheel at top of tower above mineshafts.Perhaps this one was for handling much greater weights which would require more steel cables and might explain why its bigger to accomodate them.
