Like your treatment of this portrait very much it really brings out your eyes, which bty are fantastic. Because of the effect on the eyes I would go for the lighter one of the two.

I really lik e this Sammy , nice editing. I like both, but think I prefer the dark one.

I would have gone with a background of gold variations. The blue leaves me a tad cold.
