Thanks Suzi
It was really sunny so i had some great highlights on his skin. BW conversion can be really hard as you need to have a good tonal range to stop it looking dull and boring. This normaly happens when the shot is all midtones (grey) with little shadows or highlights - get a good balance, you have a good start for BW. Also when editing for bw dont be frightend to adjust your curves and the reds - it really helps!

HTH?

Re: BW portrait

Thanks I love black and white, and on objects I think I can do an okay effort, but have yet to take a pic of a human and convert it , and it not look dull and a little dead looking TBH So if I take a portrait with good natural sunlight to highlight the face, say near a window, it will work better okay I shall play around more in curves and the red tones, thanks xx

Re: BW portrait

Strange in someone so young that you can see the child is male, may be it is that tinge of arrogance in his pose, do wonder KK if you are developing a future model. Now about the image, it is beautiful, and yes colour would do nothing to improve it.
