Re: Still trying to get better shots of Garden Birds

Thanks Baz, have put the tripod outside today about 5 feet from the feeders, I know they are not nice but it is easier than trying to decide where on a hedge they will land. I have a 50mm f1.4 so I will take your tip and start with that. Played with the remote today and it works ok except I forgot to turn it off, anyone want 200 shots of a fence?

Lucky my new body is waterproof providing it is not immersed but I do worry about the lens, still screw my courage and get on with the task in hand.

Re: Still trying to get better shots of Garden Birds

Shove a plastic bag over the lens, don't forget to make a whole for the lens to poke through. It may take a time for the birds to get used to a strange object. I have had my feeders up for several years and they don't worry too much whats around them. when filling the feeders I often only at arms length from them.

Will try that Baz, it is what we do with the video, bad weather shoot we pack loads of plastic bags and duck tape, mind you one bad night we did get a steamed up lens but it has cleared without a problem.

Re: Still trying to get better shots of Garden Birds

If 5 foot is too close then try a bit further away, that is just how close my setup is.
