Re: All the Bongo Fury Rats

There are no breeds as such, just varieties Pauline is a Hairless rat (hairless dumbo to be exact) and she was a rescue. She is *supposed* to be like that - but no-one reputable breeds for them due to the number of health problems and other issues they have. Pauline herself is always covered in scratches, and regularly has eye problems and ingrown hairs which form abscesses

thanks all for the lovely comments!

Re: All the Bongo Fury Rats

Bless.....So many - I am looking forward to 5 rescues I have coming in a month or so! (All dumbos).

I have had rats on and off most of my life - thanks to a snap decision by my Mum not to buy another hamster! Great pets - I have a friend, Kt - she is very into fancy rats she shows some of hers, she is involved with a rat club in the midlands. She got me my last 3 sets of rescues and she has been very instrumental in these - well - actually they are completely her fault!

I suspect I know Kt I'm not into MRC myself, - rather NFRS, I guess mainly the shows are more local to me generally and of course, they have the registration scheme

Re: All the Bongo Fury Rats

Great rats and some have really nice colors!
I have a more technical question to the rat pics - which lens, aperture, ISO and shutter speed have you used?
I have some fancy mice at home (black and tan, curly, longhaired) and I have insane trouble to get any good pics of them. No matter which lens I use, I have always way too much trash and almost nothing to keep.

Re: All the Bongo Fury Rats

well, i just use a little compact camera Really nothing complex to it, it has taken me years of practice to get it right though, and a LOT of patience. The best thing I find is to put them on a white background - and use flash, and don't get too close, far enough away for the flash not to bleach them, close enough to be able to grab them and put them back into position! I hope you have a go at this, and would *love* to see pics of your tans and astrexes! I love them!

Re: All the Bongo Fury Rats

I guess then it is really only about patience, luck and experience. The mice I have are not really kept as "pets" in the sense of being handled all the time, so they keep "walking away" To stay in position is impossible to ask from them. When I have some time, I will give it another try then
