Another crash - to close to home this time

Woke up at 1am by a loud bang and rumbling - went to look out the lounge window to see an almighty mess out front.

John and I headed down thinking the worst about our shop front. It didnt help having to climb over a recently put in fence from our house next door, which was now in bits and the end of our passage.

We were confronted by a wrecked car and a lampost which had travelled over 8ft to its new resting place - across our front! Itt took out 2 shop lights. Lucky for us it scraped over the top of our lounge bay window, missing the window itself - our couch is in the bay and i regulaary sit there - normally i am, but i had an early night.

The car travelling at least 120mph hit the central reservation, bounced of it into our fencing, ripped out the post (3-4ft underground!) bounced off our shop window and finally rested outside the neighbours. It missed both our houses - god knows how!

The passanger and driver ran off but there were alot of witnesses and they were caught within the hour. They had both been drinking, both underage and both in an unregistered stolen car.

I did take some shots, but dont expect much, i was too shaken up tbh.

The council refuse to put in speed cams despite police and resident plees as they want 3 major "life changing" aka deaths, before they do. The frightening thing is, will it be us as it so easily could have been last night.

Im going to take some pics of the damage for insurance this morning - ill let you know how it is. At first glance last night it seemed cosmetic althouh we will have to get the shop front replastered where the car bounced off it.

Re: Another crash - to close to home this time

seems to be a standard across the country, where we live the council won't do anything, ie speed hump, unless there has been more than 5 deaths in 3 years in the same stretch of road.

Re: Another crash - to close to home this time

Must have been the day for crashes yesterday - we had a motorbike crash not 40 yards from our house, this is the second one in a matter of months (and no I didn't get any shots - not really my thing )

Glad that you are all ok K and that there wasn't more damage to the shop.
