Re: Earths natural Satellite

Don't mention Bon Jovi, Cakey is sadly not a Pink Floyd fan, other than that he is a top guy.
Can I hook my bird watching scope up to my Fuji Finepix or my Panasonic Lumix?

Lovely photo and pleased to know you have class, must have as a PF fan.

Re: Earths natural Satellite

Thanks Richard, Ken and Laura

Barry, you cannot be that young that you dont remember Floyd ....And Bon Jovi hahahha please .......

Richard.......The Skywatcher Skymax is not a bird watching scope, its not really any good for terrestrial stuff, looking into space is another matter. Great little scope, especially under very dark skies where there is no light pollution.....

What you need to connect camera to scope is a T ring, i think there is a T ring available for connecting your lumix to certain scopes, you have lumix with detachable lens i gather??

Read this members reply on this forum.

http://www.astronomyforum.net/astron...ian-scope.html

He makes some valid points and with the use of any scope, if obs the night sky, then would be only any good to shoot the moon and it would be a lot of money to shell out just for that........You would need a DSLR and a good tracking scope for anything more which also will cost a lot of money but at least it will be more worth the money........

Incidently.....Some people who have decent scopes attach their cheap webcams to their scope using elastic bands or whatever they can find and then use the cams to take shots of Saturn, Jupiter, Mars and get some very good results. Better than a DSLR gives you.......

Hope this has been some help, PM me if you need any more info about this or any other thing regarding astronomy If i can help i will

Re: Earths natural Satellite

Scope too slow Owen, and its not a tracker like my 10", so its difficult to get perfect crisp shots. When i find some energy to get my 10" out i`ll try and capture some sharper images. Although like i mentioned, i hate the focuser.....You are supposed to turn the focus wheel to get it in focus and then tighten the wheel with a thumb screw, but then when you tighten the thumb screw the focusing point shifts. Maybe something to do with the scope toppling over some weeks after i had got it damaging the focuser, lol. I just needed a little longer to get it in focus after that point.....
Shame you still didnt have your scope, it would be something fun to do with the kids, looking into the cosmos
