First Moon photo Need some help

Used my 400mm sigma, F9, shutter 1/100th, Had it on auto focus which obviously through it out slightly, would you use manual focus doing this sort of photography?

Re: First Moon photo Need some help

Difficult using live view. Keep trying Cliff.
A little tip for you. Try to take images of the moon when the stars are not twinkling. Stars twinkle due to our bad atmosphere sometimes, you know there is a fairly good atmosphere when there is no twinkle at all, should give you a better image.......
Do not quote me on this though But going back to astrophotography and deep space photography, its hard to punch through atmosphere when stars are twinkling .....

Re: First Moon photo Need some help

You really don't need to focus as such. The moon is so far away you can set the lens focus to infinity and that will be the best focus you'll get.
