If you got good eyes then manual all the way Cliff

Tripod Mark, tried live view useless, will try manual focus tomorrow if clear, should have my teleconverter friday.

Difficult using live view. Keep trying Cliff.
A little tip for you. Try to take images of the moon when the stars are not twinkling. Stars twinkle due to our bad atmosphere sometimes, you know there is a fairly good atmosphere when there is no twinkle at all, should give you a better image.......
Do not quote me on this though
But going back to astrophotography and deep space photography, its hard to punch through atmosphere when stars are twinkling .....

You really don't need to focus as such. The moon is so far away you can set the lens focus to infinity and that will be the best focus you'll get.
