Starscapes

On a recent trip to the Sea Lochs on Scotland's West Coast, I had been waiting to capture that perfect Sunset shot.

I waited...and waited...and waited...and waited....until finally the Sun slowly sank below the horizon, and I got my Sunset.

But then I decided to wait a little longer.......and when everyone else was tucked up in bed...fast asleep...I was having the time of my life capturing the night sky, in all it's heavenly glory

Re: Starscapes

These are beautiful MD, I think my faves is no1, 6 and 8 it looks so peaceful.

No4 is a clever shot, I love it, your shadow looks like a gunslinger about to draw

The only constellation I recognise there is the Plough, but they are all pretty, and twinkly

Fab skies you have up there, the colours are awesome.

Thanks Moonstone.

There was a huge light behind me when I took this shot, hence the shadow and the light on the trees. There was no way for me to keep the shadow out of the shot, so I decided to see if I could capture it too. But because the shot was a 20 or 30 second exposure, I had to stand absolutely still for that length of time, otherwise the shadow would have blurred. I'm glad no one was around to see me, coz I did feel a bit of a prat.

You know...it wasn't cold at all

It had been a really warm day, and the evening was quite balmy. I didn't even have a jacket on.

Some of them were 30 sec exposures, but I noticed that I was beginning to get some tiny star trails on some shots, but not others, which was slightly confusing
so I then experimented with various exposure lengths.

I've also looked again at the " gunslinging shadow " data
and that was only an 8 sec exposure. That must be why I was able to stand so still.
