That shot you posted is beautiful and really demonstrates the polarisor effect well 
I did have my polarisor on that day but there wasn't a lot of contrast between the clouds and sky at all that day so I was lucky to get any sky detail at all. The last time I went up there it was just grey sky 
I love the effects the polarisor can give though and if I'm shooting landscapes, it's on my lens. They just make the skies look so much more dramatic somehow

I'm contrary like them all but love no. 1 - like yours too B M I am a sucker for trees and water and the polarised shot does give a wonderful sky - I find them difficult to understand, any one explain in detail but words of one syllable, mine are of the circular type.
