Horizons
Just a quicky ....when taking shots of still water especially (lakes, ponds, sea etc) remember to check the horizon 
I have seen several gorgeous shots on here which are (for me ) spoilt by a rising or dipping horizon ... water doesn't sit at an angle
It only takes a couple of seconds to straighten a shot when you notice it and it really can make a HUGE difference to how your shot is seen ....some people won't even realise why the shot doesn't look quite *right* but they know it doesn't

good tip, and there is always the measure tool in photoshop for people like me who try to take handheld shots and never get them quite level

If your camera has a grid program for the viewfinder in the menu, this will help in aligning up the camera with the horizon.

for cameras with a hot shoe bed - a hot shoe spirit level will cost you a fiver at www.7dayshop.com The only thing you will have to worry about then is making sure you use it.
