A lilly that I ended up calling Triffid

Set it up as a table top shot, but left it for two days, and when I came back to it, it was the triffid, lol

Very nice job here Grumpy! Excellent sharpness and a perfect exposure on a difficult white subject. I like the reflected light on the darker edges. I love flowers and strive to photograph them against a dark background to increase color saturation and separation. You've done that well in this photograph.

Sure thing Dave, we have something in common then. When asked what my specialty is however I just admit to photographing everything in sight. I'm the sort of photographer that goes to the Grand Canyon and comes back with a memory card full of corn flowers growing on the side of a cliff.

I've got an ol thread telling all about my upcoming 9 day trips to the Canyons Of The West. They include: Bryce National Park, Zion National Park, Arches National Park, Monument Valley & two whole days in the Grand Canyon. This is happening July 21-31 this year. I'm a bit excited! http://www.greentortoise.com/adventu...rand.zion.html

Lovely shot Dave

As Bob said - great exposure.

It's somehow dark, bold and moody yet still delicate.

Fantastic Dave, all I can say is I wish I had taken it

Also this make me want to have a play with my lights and do a bit of table top photography.
