what made you guys pick up a camera?

i have been carrying a camera around for 20 years only a cheap crappy one cause and dont laugh.

i wanted to be the first person to capture an alien on film so i had to carry it everywhere.

then 6 years ago i had my son and i really started to take an interest, but still hoping for that alien pic

Re: What made you pick up a camera?

I dunno, I am new to all this, have always had cameras, but just point, click, and never put much effort into it.
But a few months ago, I decided to try and learn how to do it properly. I really don't know why??? But I am glad I did

Though it would of been quieter for all of you if I hadn't

Re: What made you pick up a camera?

I think as I got older and started to appreciate natural beauty more

I think nature is amazing, and love seeing everyone's pictures - esp the ones that make me go 'wow'.

I can see the beauty in man made things too I guess - dunno, think I am just getting old and appreciating things a lot more

Re: What made you pick up a camera?

Always had p&s cameras, when my dad bought a new one he would give me the old one. I always used them for pics of friends, sporting events and my budgies when I used to keep them, but as this was from my early high school days I never used them alot and were not very good..

I got my first digi just after I got my first dog and used it mainly for that, after that one broke I got my sony which I still use now and started taking different types of photos and started to enjoy it, so I looked into it more and then decided to get the D40 what I have now.

Re: What made you pick up a camera?

I've always enjoyed taking pictures but I guess I got 'more into it' when I first went to college in the late 80's to do technical illustration as photography was part of the course. I remember having to get to grips with SLR cameras, studio lighting, light meters, producing test strips, developing, dodging and burning with all the lolly pop shapes, chemicals, clothes pegs etc etc. I really enjoyed the dark room stuff.

Re: What made you pick up a camera?

I used photography for original source material when I did O level and A level art. I then studied it as part of my degree. After my degree I bought a digital point and shoot which I snapped away with. When I got Fudge I was out and about more and so started carrying a camera with me. It was after Phil got his DSLR that I decided I wanted to take it further as I saw the potential that a better camera might bring.

Re: What made you pick up a camera?

What made me pick up a camera? because I dropped it of course .

Joking apart I started off with a box brownie 127, saved up my pocket money for what then seemed ages to buy it. Then had ,and still have, a Voightlander Vito CL , went on to get a movie camera, still got that as well, both still working.
Found film was expensive so gave up for quite a time until digital came along. Bought as I have mentioned before a Kodak compact, just to see what all this digital stuff was about, and got hooked,so went on to get a Nikon D70s and exchanged that recently to upgrade to my present Nikon D200

So really alway had a varing amount of interest in photography but never really seriously until the last few years.

Well thats my excuse

Re: What made you pick up a camera?

I've always had an interest in cameras and video cameras; I've got this cute picture of me at about six years old taking a picture of my dad taking a picture . Then at 9 I set up a 'studio' with a cushion, lights, two (live) kittens and a rubbish webcam. Each birthday I've had a camera or accesory - its my 'driving license'birthday(eek go my parents)soon so I'm hoping for something good LOL. I've kind of become known for either having a camera or drawing pad in my hand now
