Cheap ring flash

Hi just wondering if anybody used one these or similar and are they a waste of money...

your better off with one of these Owen as its a real flash (uses either built in flash or you can get one to fit hotshoe flash )
LED ones are not normally flash and stay on so you cant freeze subjects like you can with a true flash

I have tried one of these out in the last couple of weeks and although it isn't a flash it gives a nice even light and can be used 'half on' to light things from one side or another. I suppose it depends on what you want it for.

Cheers cakey looking at all ways at the moment just don't wanna be pulling fortunes out, I have got hot shoe flash so may look into these...

Thanks Vikki it will be mainly for still macro and been reading about the even light so how you finding yours and for what use

Not mine Owen but mum is using one for some macro work and I had a wee shot at it. The light is really useful for focussing and doesn't cast shadows. Just nice even light.

I would say it would have its uses, probably a nice piece of kit - but not a flash.
