I went through Stirling on the train a few weeks ago and spotted that bridge right away thanks to your photos of it

Sorry Carole, wrong bridge, this is the drip road bridge, there's no railwayline near it, did you know they hung archbishop Hamilton from it in the 16th century, heh heh, I know a few more miscreants that should be hung from there today.

What are the two bridges that look similar then? Can't remember whether its before you hit the station or after. They are quite a bit away from the track but within view.

The rail line goes north further downstream about 1.5 miles, this bridge goes west to the western highlands, it's no longer open for road traffic, it was built about 1450 and the furthest arch was blown up by an English general to stop the advance of the highlanders during the Jackobite rebellion.

PS: The bridge you see under the central arch is the new road bridge on the A84.

i agree !! did you see the news, a yob threw huge fireworks in the shop !!and the baby was in there too . SICK!! cant beleive someone do that !!!

Winter is FABULOUS ...I am definitely NOT a Summer person ..in fact, this Summer just gone was the best Summer for YEARS Not much sun, no humidity ..fabulous
