Joby Gorillapod GP2 - SLR
Just been to Jessops at lunch time and purchased one of these for my trip to Las Vegas tomorrow as I did not fancy taking my full-size tripod on a stag do! Looking forward to using it to get some night shots of the Strip!
Anyone used one before? Are they good?

They seem to divide opinion David but providing you get the right model to suit the weight of the gear you need to support then they're very good.
I've used one before and I quite fancy getting one for setting the camera up to shoot birds via a wireless remote trigger.

Found them a bit over-rated to be honest. I have the SLR model and it struggles to support my D300 with anything but small primes. However your 450D and the lenses you have are smaller and lighter so you may have a bit of fun with it. Probably ok to grip onto treees and stuff, but as far as any flat surfaces are concerned, you may as well have a small, table top tripod at a third of the price. I bought mine and never use it.

My friend swears by them but I bought one and just dont use it I like either my bean bag or tripod but mostly hand held only my opinion but I think they are expensive for what they are but its only my thoughts on them

I've got the biggest model & it has no problem holding the heaviest of gear.
