Re: Dog Daisys

Lovely images Niko. Very Pretty Flowers

Shirley/Moonstone - Ox Eye daisy, Marguerite, Dog daisy and Moon Daisy are different type of Daisies from the Asteraceae family, and come under the genus and species of Leucanthemum Vulgare. The Shasta Daisy is very similar to the ox eye but larger, it is in the same family and Genus as the others but it comes under a different Species. Leucanthemum x superbum, aptly named due to its size They used to be in the same Genus as Chrysanthemums. Ox, Marg, Moon and dog, their unopened buds can be used in cooking. Both plants are herbs, not sure whether Shasta can be used too in cooking though.
Well theres my bit of useless information for the day

Re: Dog Daisys

My latin has a limit, only know a handful of latin names for garden plants and flowers due to what myself or my auntie with very green fingers grows, everytime i ask her what she is growing she always answers me in Latin. Daisies always cross our path one time or another, i had never heard of Shasta though, i had to read up about that one :/

One for my garden - Leontodon - Dandelion , and Helianthus - Sunflower, Narcissus Sylvestris - Daffodil come to mind.

I hope its not the latin flower name of Julius Caesar that you know, i believe that is a hybrid of a cannibis plant
