Taking pics of small animals

I have a very cute hamster and lots of blurry pics of him.

Short of supergluing his paws to a surface, has anybody got advice on how to take pics of very fast small animals. I also worry the flash may hurt his eyes.

I do have pics of people holding him, but I would like some of him alone.

I know Zoundz has rats, and her pics look good.

Any advice welcome. xxx

Re: Taking pics of small animals

well... white background, on a small table or similar, that they cannot escape from and just patience. if they move put them back, do it repeatedly until they stay still and then snap away! haha! Main thing to remember is out of about 30 pics of each rat, usually only 2-3 are any good

Thanks even out of 30 I am not sure even one of mine is good, I shall try in the morning so I don't need to use the flash.

He is so speedy

Thanks for the advice everyone, you will hopefully see some pics of him soon

Re: Taking pics of small animals

Well that didn't work he went to take a flying leap off the table

Perhaps I HAVE A HAMMY WITH A DEATH WISH

He has a playpen type thing, so I will try that but it has very naff bright coloured bars. I do have loads shot through his cage but that is crappy.

Just need to go through them, I ended up taking about 50

I tired him out by popping him in his plastic ball first
