Mooooon!

I decided to try out my new tele-converter. I'm thinking that the quality is not that of a true 500mm lens. On the other hand it isn't bad. And at least it was affordable. I intend to try it when bird-watching next week. Birds are generally considerably closer, and have a lower albedo.

Sony A57
Sony 3.5-5.6 /18-55
Sony 4.5-5.6 75-300
Tamron 4-5.6 70-300

Re: Mooooon!

Think you will find Gaz a little bit of work in photoshop can make a bit of difference, otherwise with what you are using and knowing how hard it is getting a good moon shot you did ok

I use one of these white lenses with a 2 X TC + adapter to connect to camera

Not that expensive but gets loads closer for moon shots

I used Nik software on the high contrast green to get this of your shot, nothing else. you can get it a little better by sharpening a wee bit but will leave that up to you

Re: Mooooon!

I am not really hot on photoshop, so I'm more than happy for advice. Will need to study what you did, and how to do it myself.

I'm intrigued by your lens. I have avoided them because I wasn't sure the quality was good enough... I may have to see if there's a Sony version. Do you have any examples of what they can do?

Cheers

Re-edit

Re: Mooooon!

I've run it through Picasa and some of their filters and came up with this, which is, I think, an improvement:

Kit 1
Sony A57
Sony 3.5-5.6 /18-55
Sony 4.5-5.6 75-300
Tamron 4-5.6 70-300

There you go Gaz

now about being hot on photoshop problem

With Photoshop elements you don't have to be most is done via using sliders for adjustments. What I would suggest is get a 30 day free download trial of Adobe Elements11 and see how you get on with it.

I gave my original elements7 to a friend who was in exactly the same position as you , bit shall we say wary of editing. He took to it and wouldn't use anything else. I spoke to him the other night and he couldn't believe how easy that elements program was.
