Poole Harbour Winter sunset
Hi guys
I have put this one up to show what the submarine like object in the image I put up the other day is. http://www.yophotographer.com/page.php?t=4999
It is a mooring bollard used by oil tankers during, and for a short period after, the second World War. The tankers would come alongside the pier that can just be seen on the left to discharge oil to a small hidden oil depot. the mooring ropes would be taken from the ship to the bollards either side of the pier.
