Lily & Friends

Just a few images from earlier on tonight, i was trying out different aperture settings to see the different effects of depth of field.

Image 1 - Orange Tiger Lily - AV : 6.3, Shutter speed : 1/200, Auto ISO
Image 2 - Daisy - AV : 22, Shutter Speed : 1/15, ISO400
Image 3 - Carnation - AV : 5.6, Shutter Speed : 1/200, ISO 200
Image 4 - Carnation - AV : 22, Shutter Speed : 1/200, ISO 200

Images 3&4, which do you think works best?? The shallow depth of field or the extended depth of field??

Comments welcome

Thanks for looking

1st one for me. At least you know your flowers, I always have to asked

Just noticed you are in HHH. I was born and lived in Hemel for many years. Luckily I found a way out. Took me 2 days on the magic roundabout but I got there

Thanks Skyline Sadly my knowledge of plants and flowers are limited though, especially when it comes to a lot of garden flowers.

You probably wouldnt recognize HH now, although the magic roundabout is still here. The missus is the local, im a northener who swapped the pennines for the chilterns Too many new builds, i think they have built enough new houses and apartments in the last 4 years to almost double the pop of hemel.

Re: Lily & Friends

Image 3 works best for me - more interest and nicer framing - however i think you could increase the exposure by at least 2 stops xx

Re: Lily & Friends

Thanks Ken and Musky

I suppose at the end of the day it all depends on what you are imaging and how much you want to highlight your target subject. I still have a lot to learn when it comes to shooting that perfect picture. Currently im just learning what settings i need on the camera (Shutter speed, Aperture etc) when it comes to weather conditions and the target subject. With plenty of time and even more patience i hope to eventually get there hopefully with a few people giving me pointers along the way
I have spent most of the day trying to image birds in flight, with very little success, i even read through a few blogs to see if i could find out what the camera settings need to be at, but it seemed, even when i tried some of these settings images were washed out especially due to how bright it has been today.
Anyway, thanks everybody for your comments
