a litle help?

As some of you may have noticed i mainly take pictures of grasstrack racing, speeds of up to 80mph,loads of dust,or mud if it rains, overtaking on the bends is most common,so as you focus on one outfit another cuts infront and you get an out of focus outfit in front, and distance is about 60 feet to the closest part of the bend co's thats where the best shots are to be got,i am thinking of getting another lense at the moment i use a 30-700mm-af which is good but still leaves a lot of cropping and work, any suggestion's on a better lense without breaking the bank
heres a shot of what i mean
Kit 1
cannon EOS-350D
AF 70-300mm,1:4-5.6ld-tele-macro 1:2-tamron
cannon-efs 18-55-ultrasonic+automatic extension kit -3 rings

Re: a litle help?

Without breaking the bank... you need to get closer

I would get something like a 70-200 f2 and get closer to the action

Do you mean 30-700 ? or was that a typo ?

Unfortunately your chosen type of photography is the expensive type. Ideally you need a lens with not just a longish focal length but one which had a large aperture. It's the combination of these two factors which drive the price up.

There's many 200 or 300mm lenses that won't break the bank but they may (due to the aperture size) only let you take photographs at shutter speeds which are too slow for you to freeze the action.

What body do you have and what's your budget ?

There are ways around the problem with extension tubes or lens teleconverters but the results when using these will vary depending the lens you're attaching them to.

Re: a litle help?

Short, fat & hairy lol

Sorry - I noticed you already said Canon.

If 200mm is long enough you might find a 'faster' one (larger aperture) for a bit less that a 300mm with the same aperture.

Perhaps others might have some suggestions but I'll have a nosey around the net later.

Re: a litle help?

I'm just a bit confused - you have a 30-700mm lens already? you can't get any bigger without breaking the bank - surely that must have broken the bank already?!

You must mean a 30-70mm? I would hope?
