Re: Action shots

Maybe you should say what you're shooting with, and what it is about your shots that you're not happy with?

I don't know what sort of camera it is (Dylan's sleeping on it at the moment - strange boy!) but the photos always look a little blurred because when he's playing he's rushing about all over the place and all I can see on most of the photos is a grey and white flash.

Re: Action shots

Hmm... it could be that your camera doesn't make it easy for you to catch him in action - try shooting in good light, or perhaps even using the flash? It may give a harsh light effect, or a colour cast on occasion, which can possibly be edited to look better afterwards.

Good luck!

Re: Action shots

If Dylan can comfortably sleep on it the presumably its a compact camera so that`s a start
If you can tell us from what`s written on the camera the make and model we can look up the specs and take it from there - well the more experienced can take it from there anyway, I would only be able to give limited technical help if its the same make and model as either of my compacts

Re: Action shots

You don't say if you want action shots in movie or still frame shot. I suspect that in single picture mode the shutter speed would be around 1/60 second in photographic terms that is quite slow considering a full DSLR goes up to 1/8000 second (Nikon).

There is one way you might achive good action shots is by being further away from what you are taking a photo of, the closer you get the more blurred the picture becomes. Track the subject as well, this causes the subject to be in focus whilst the background blurs

So get further away, take the picture, then crop in an editing suite to enlarge to picture.
This should overcome your problem to a certain extent for still shots. for movies same again stand further away is your best bet.
