Mixed bag from the fishing lakes

I had a very pleasant surprise while at my local fishing lakes.

1) A swollen river.

2) Precarious swim.

3) The owner's property in the background.

4) The scales don't lie. They were carefully zeroed.

The next four are the proof.

5)

6)

7)

8)

9) A fisherman's companion.

Mirror Mirror in the lake, what's the cheapest bait you'll take?

Nice catch, and a nice catch!

Re: Mixed bag from the fishing lakes

Thanks Gaz. For a quiet water a 26lb mirror was caught just 15 mins earlier from the same lake, no chance to capture that fish.

Re: Mixed bag from the fishing lakes

A real beauty.

It's been a long time since I did any course fishing.

Was it Ian Heaps years ago that used to be a bit of a carp guru ?

I think 43lbs wouldn't have been far off the UK record when I was growing up.

I think that fish called 'Two Tone' that died a few years back was the record last I heard.

Re: Mixed bag from the fishing lakes

Clarissa caught by Dick Walker was the record in 1952at 44lbs. Clarissa lived on for a further 22 years at the London Aquarium. I think the current record is around the 67lb mark.

Just for the record the only way I captured this wonderful creature was on camera. The chap who caught it has been trying for four years. On this trip he hadn't even got all his rods set up when the fish picked up his bait and screamed off.

The fish was really cared for and delicately handled, treated for a small ulcer with a special antiseptic lotion and swam off strongly.
